Big Freedia, the Queen of Bounce, is excited to announce her unscripted TV show with Fuse has wrapped production and will premiere on October 2. The show, “Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce,” explores the underground oft-misunderstood world of the New Orleans hip-hop scene known as Bounce. The series focuses on Big Freedia and fellow artists Mr. Ghetto, Sissy Nobby and others as they struggle to take their music to the next level of success.
“I’m very excited to have the spotlight on Bounce music and culture,” explains Big Freedia. “I won’t lie though, having cameras on you all the time is stressful and this show is not short on drama. But hopefully I represent Bounce and NOLA in a way people can be proud of.”
“I met Big Freedia three years ago,” notes Renee Moncada, co-executive producer of the show and Big Freedia’s manager, “and was mesmerized by the music, culture, and her. I think this is a perfect platform for people to see beyond the fan-faire of Freedia and Bounce.”
“Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce” is executive produced and directed by Jeremy Simmons, executive produced by Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, and Tom Campbell and produced by World of Wonder (“Rupaul’s Drag Race”, “Million Dollar Listing”, “Life with La Toya”). Both “G-Thing” and “Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce” have been picked up for an 8-episode run.
Freedia is preparing to hit the road with electro-pop band The Postal Service for her first amphitheater tour, starting in Vancouver on July 16 and will end at Berkeley’s famous Greek Theater on July 26. See tour dates below.
